Welcome to my web site. I have been a photographer ever since I can
remember. My cousin bought my first camera, a turquoise blue, Bakelite, Kodak
Brownie for me when I was just 7 years old.
My first photographic experience was in his darkroom soon after. I was in awe the first time
I saw the image come up on the photo paper.
For many years, I was a point-and-shoot snap-shooter, then I studied Photography in college, bought my first 35mm, an Olympus OM1. I
found work for the local newspaper and freelanced for a while. My life changed with
work and children, and I found I had no time for photography, except for the
occasional family pictures.
Once the children and husband were gone, I started taking
pictures once again. I bought a couple rolls of film and some batteries and went out
shooting. I shot some terrible pictures. It made me realize that I had forgotten more than I
learned. So I enrolled in the New York
Institute of Photography home-study course. I relearned the basics at NYIP; it was just what I
needed to get motivated to start shooting once again.
With the advent of digital photography and the internet, I slowly began to
renew my skills. I joined many online forums, some helpful, some just fun;
but they all helped me to hone my skills as a photographer. I still belong
to several forums, many of them specifically critique sites and have learned
a great deal from other photographers about my style, composition, lighting,
etc.
My primary interest is in Nature Photography, but my interests vary from
that genre as you will see in the pages to follow. This site is updated at
least on a monthly basis. Please come back often.
